I actually picked this one out from the library in my first and second grade. The book was called Drown in the Sink and it was about an author and his life story. I remember I think having trouble following along because I knew the plot but I couldn’t figure out why the author had written it. I still think about it today.
I read this book a few times already, even though I had to finish it about three years ago. I loved it. I was very excited when I read it, but I was kind of feeling sad about how much better it would turn out to be. It was really good to read with a bit of a bad feeling.

The characters are always more subtle and not so much the way they appear. They have a lot more personality and personality traits, but they have so much personality, and that isn’t necessarily a good thing. A character who can see the world, be a part of it, and have that personality is a really good character.
Well, ok. Maybe. I mean, I guess I do think the author is being realistic about how the story should be- but I do like the characters so much more than I have a right to.
Yes, I am saying this as a reader not a writer. The book is really very good! And though some readers might think it is just a children’s book that is way “too simple” for adults to enjoy, I think the author is doing what I would call a “classic” storytelling style. She manages to keep the story interesting throughout and the characters are not just there to tell the story. They also have a lot of personality and personality traits, which is a good thing.
